Infection complicating hysterectomy occurs as three distinct entities:(1) unexpiained fever, (2) operative site infection, and (3) infection remote from the operative site. Infection is signaled primarily by the development of postoperative fever. The most commonly used definition of postoperative febricity at this time is a temperature greater than 38℃ on two occasions at least 4 hours apart and more than 24 hours after surgery.
