关系副词使用不正确的举例

语法是语言学的最重要规则之一。作力重要的语言活动，翻译和写作自然与语法密切相关。英语语法在汉译英和英语写作中的電要作用是不言自明的。要想译出好的英语译文或写出好的英语文章，扎实地掌握英语语法是十分必要的。下面列出一些关系副词使用不当的举例，希望对读者有所裨益。
例1. Using the idea in the former articles, in this paper, we examine ihe non-linear stability of three-dimensional quasi- geostraphic motions when the horizontal domain is a bounded on B-lane.[利用前文的思想，我们在本文研究了水平域结合于B道时 的三维拟自旋运动的线性稳定性。]
句中when的用法属于从属连词的用法，构成状语从句。但从意义上讲,when从句显然不是修饰主句谓语examine的，而是修饰 the nonlinear stability of three-dimensional quasi-geostraphic motions, 即when应用作关系副词引导定语从句。这时正确的用法应为at the time when…，因为关系副词引导定语从句时，其先行词须是表示时间的名词。
改译：In this paper, we, using the idea in the previous report, examined the non-linear stability of three-dimensional quasi- geostraphic motions at tbe time when the horizonal domain is a bounded on B-lane.
例2. That is the reason because they gave up the research plan.[这就是他们放弃研究计划的原因]
英译句中的because为从属连词，但句子应该用关系副词why引导定语从句，修饰先行词the reason.
改译:That is the reason why they gave up the research plan.
例 3. The genetic diversity of the domestic animals in China not only provides us with valuable resources for animal breeding, but also constitutes an important component in the treasure of animal genetic resources of China and the world. This is especially true at present when the biotic diversity of the domestic animals in other countries is becoming more and more depleted, and when the domestic animal resources are decreasing and becoming more and more homogeneous. [中国家养动物的遗传多样性不仅可为我们提供十分有价值的育种资源，也是中国乃至世界动物遗传资源的重要组成部分。在目前来说,这种遗传多样性尤其重要，因为其他国家的家养动物的生物多样性正在逐步消失，家养动物资源日益减少，并日趋同质化。]
