除了倍数增加和减少的译法外，有时还需注意数量、分数，百分比等增加或减少的翻译问题，但这些问题一般来说比较简单，不致产生重大的误译。
数量与百分比等的增减，一般用表示增加或减少意义的动词+介词to (up to)或by来表示，介词to (up to)表示增加到某一数量或百分比，介词by表示纯增减的数量或百分比。翻译时主要应注意这两个介词所表示的数量的区别。
举例说明：
1. By using some new drugs the incidence of the disease hos been reduced to and cost of medication--by 70%.
由于使用一些新的药物，此病的发病率已降至1%，而医疗费用降低了70%。
2. As a result the incidence of infectious diseases was reduced by 60%.
结果传染病的发病率降低了 60%。
3. The patient starred off with 15 mg of thyroid extract daily for one week and increased it by 15 mg every week up to a total dose of 100 to 200 mg per day.
患者开始时每日使用甲状腺剂15毫克，为时一周。以后每周增加15毫克，直至每日总剂量达到100至200毫克为止。
4. The number of patients suffering from the disease has decreased by 40% to only about 1000 this year.
此病患者数今年巳减少40%，只有1000名左右。
5. The total time of treatment can then be reduced to 18 to 22 days.
而后，总的治疗时间可减少到18〜22天。
6. Activity of normal myocardivum declined further by 63% from 30 to 240 min. of reperfusion, while set vity in the transciently ischemic myocardium decreased by 15.5%.
经过30至240分钟的反复灌注，正常心肌活力降低了63%，而短暂性心肌缺血的心肌活力降低了 15.5%。
7. In the United Kingdom the over-all death rale from asthma increased by 42 per cent between 1959 and 1964.
1959 ~ 1964年期间，英国哮喘的总死亡率增加了42%。
8. Now this drug is only one-fifth of what it cost last year.
现在这种药的价格只有去年的1/5。
