4) 加注法可用于故事类与比喻类的歇后语中。有一些带典故的说法，简单的一句话难以说清，就可加注说明，如：癩蛤蟆想吃天鹅肉——痴心妄想[ A toad lusting for a swan's flesh — a daydream or nymphoiepsy (Notes：nympholepsy 是情欲狂妄症）]。在西方人的眼里，癩蛤蟆吃虫，绝不会想到要吃天鹅肉，这里有一个 东西文化障碍。中文已把癩蛤蟆拟人化，指像癞蛤蟆一样丑陋的人也想娶天仙般的美女（天鹅肉）。
