Over the past year, China-Australian relations have undergone important developments. Both sides have reinforced their understanding that it is in the fundamental interest of both countries and both peoples to promote sound and stable development of China-Australia relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. In 2018, the Chinese side continued to deepen its cooperation with New South Wales in areas such as economy and trade, culture, education, tourism, science and technology and so on, and we have achieved fruitful results. China remains the largest trading partner, the largest source country of import and the largest source country of tourists and international students for New South Wales. The New South Wales government and businesses have actively participated in the First China International Import Expo in Shanghai, highlighting the significant potential for our mutually beneficial cooperation.
在刚刚过去的一年里，我们共同纪念了华人抵达澳大利亚200周年。长期以来，在澳华人主动融入和积极回馈当地社会，热心传播中华文化，为促进澳经济社会发展、推动中澳两国友好关系作出了重要贡献。我注意到，新州许多市镇都在积极举办丰富多彩的中国春节庆祝活动，这反映出新州民众对中华文化的喜爱，也是对华人社区所作贡献的“点赞”。

Over the past year, we have celebrated together the 200th anniversary of Chinese migration to Australia. For many years the Chinese communities have worked with diligence, integrated successfully into the local society, and spread actively the Chinese culture, thus making important contributions to Australia's development and the friendly relations between our two countries. Many local councils are organizing various Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, which has reflected the New South Wales people's affection of the Chinese culture and their respect for the Chinese community.

2019年是中华人民共和国成立70周年。70年来，中国人民在中国共产党领导下不懈拼搏、努力奋斗，成功探索出一条符合自身国情的发展道路，即中国特色社会主义道路。中国将继续贯彻创新、协调、绿色、开放、共享的新发展理念，加快转变发展方式，推动供给侧结构性改革，实现中国经济高质量发展，让民众有更多获得感、幸福感。我们将继续坚持走和平发展道路，坚定奉行互利共赢的对外开放战略，同世界各国实现共同发展、共同繁荣。中国将办好2019年第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛、第二届中国国际进口博览会等主场外交活动，为构建开放型世界经济注入更多正能量。
2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Over the past 70 years, the Chinese people have made great efforts under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and successfully found a path of development that is in line with its national conditions, i.e. the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. China will continue to implement the new principles of innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared development, accelerate transformation of its development mode, carry out supply-side structural reform and achieve high-quality development of its economy, so that the Chinese people will have a stronger sense of fulfillment and happiness. We will continue to pursue the path of peaceful development, stay committed to the strategy of opening-up for win-win results, and achieve common development and prosperity with the rest of the world. In 2019, China will host diplomatic events including the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the Second China International Import Expo, which will inject more positive energy into the building of an open world economy.
