1986年密联邦独立后，中国成为最早承认密联邦并与密联邦建交的国家之一。1989年两国建交后，中国政府高度重视发展中密友好关系，始终将密联邦作为好兄弟、好伙伴、好朋友。2014年习近平主席与密联邦领导人决定建立相互尊重、共同发展的战略伙伴关系，翻开了中密关系新的一页。2017年3月，克里斯琴总统对中国进行了成功访问，习近平主席同克里斯琴总统就推进中密战略伙伴关系达成重要共识，为两国关系发展指明了方向。
When the FSM won its independence in 1986, China was one of the first countries that recognized and established diplomatic relations with the FSM. The Chinese government has all along attached great importance to China-FSM relations and always sees in the FSM a good brother, good partner and good friend. Our relations have made significant headway since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1989. In November 2014, President Xi Jinping and the FSM leader made the decision to build a strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development, opening a new chapter of China-FSM relations. The productive meetings between President Xi Jinping and President Peter Christian during President Christian's successful visit to China in March 2017 charted the course for our bilateral relations.
在经济全球化的今天，没有与世隔绝的孤岛。各国相互依存、休戚与共，生活在同一片蓝天下，同为地球村居民。习近平主席提出了构建人类命运共同体的重要思想，就是要坚持国家不分大小、强弱、贫富一律平等，推动建立以相互尊重、公平正义、合作共赢为核心的新型国际关系，推动建立持久和平、普遍安全、共同繁荣、开放包容、清洁美丽的世界，这既是新时代中国特色大国外交的总目标，也是中密关系发展的根本遵循。
共建“一带一路”是构建人类命运共同体的生动实践，是中国扩大对外开放的重要举措，已成为当今世界重要的国际合作新平台。我们欢迎密方更加积极参与“一带一路”建设，欢迎密方积极加入亚投行。相互尊重、平等相待、共同发展是中密关系的本质特征。中国高度赞赏密联邦长期以来坚定恪守一个中国原则。密联邦有句成语说，在海边生长的岛国人，不可逆潮流而动。密联邦的正确选择，符合时代潮流，符合国际法和国际关系基本准则，符合国际社会共识。密联邦一代一代政治家的远见卓识与密联邦人民信守承诺的民族性格，不损害兄弟朋友利益的“太平洋方式”，令中方高度赞赏。中方也感谢密联邦长期以来在国际多边舞台上给予中国的支持。
Ladies and Gentlemen,
There is no isolated island in our world of economic globalization. Every nation is a resident in the global village, sharing the same sky and living together with mutual dependence and a shared future. President Xi Jinping advocates the important thought of "building a community with a shared future for humanity", the objective of which is to stand for the equality of countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, building a new type of international relations based on the core values of mutual respect, fairness, justice and win-win cooperation and building an open, inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity. This is the general goal of major-country diplomacy with Chinese features in the new era and the solid path that China-FSM relationship will follow upon.
The Belt and Road Initiative is the lively practice of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the important approach taken by China to expand opening-up and has become a new platform for international cooperation. We welcome the FSM side to jointly pursue the Belt and Road Initiative and take part in the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank in a more active way. Mutual respect, equality and common development are the most essential features of China-FSM relations. China highly appreciates the FSM's strict adherence to the One-China principle over the past years. As the FSM proverbs go, living by the sea, no one should walk against the tide. The right choice of the FSM is in accordance with the tide of the times, the international law, basic principles of international relations and consensus of international community. The great visions of FSM statesmen of generations, the FSM national character of keeping promises and the Pacific way of not harming friends and brothers are highly appreciated by the Chinese people. We would also like to express our sincere thanks for the FSM's long standing support to China in multilateral affairs.
