2.  特殊的形式

当搭配格式中的“of A”比“介词B”长时就可以变成以下的形式：

名词      介词B of   A

在翻译时关键之点在于一定要注意“of A”是修饰“名词”的， 而绝不是修饰“B”的，否则就译错了，如：

For the system illustrated in Fig. 7，what is the effect on the system transfer function of inserting sign reverse in series with H₃(S)?

（对于图7所示系统来说，若与H₃(S)串接ー个符号反向器，则它对该系统的影响会是怎么样呢？——通常的搭配格式应是 “the effect of A on B”，本句中的A是ー个动名词短语)

Evaporation from the soil and transpiration from vegetation are responsible for the direct return to the atmosphere of more than half the water which falls on the land.

(由土壤的蒸发和植物的蒸腾作用，促使降在大地上一半以上的水分直接返回到了大气层。——return的逻辑宾语是more than half the water which falls on the land )

Nearly two decades Ago, the reintroduction by Cooley and Tukey of the fastFourier transform and the growing expertise in digital circuit technology led to the revolution, in signal processing.
