三、present

present是一个在医学英语中极为常见的异类异义词，它的用法和译法大致如下：

(一）用作形容词(读法为[preznt]),有“现在的”“存在的”、“在场的”“本……”等意思。翻译时有时还需按具体情况作恰当的处理（例 1-2).

(二）用作动词(读法为[pri'zent]),—般用作及物动词，也包括分词，可译为“提出”“给予”“呈现”“介绍”等，在医学文献中常可译为“报道”。present oneself 意为“出现”“呈现"（例 3-4).

(三)用作名词(读法为['prizent]),可作“现在”“目前”解，也可作“礼物”解(例5-6).
