英语的定语从句在特定的上下文中可以有不同的逻辑意义，在汉译时，完全可以按所理解的不同逻辑意义来处理。因此定语从句无论是限制性定语从句还是非限制性定语从句，常常可以根据其在上下文中的逻辑意义翻译为原因状语从句、条件从句、 结果从句、目的从句等。翻译时要注意从英语原句的字里行间去发现这种逻辑关系，并在汉译过程中加以体现。如：
1. 译为结果状语从句
* The stimulation of nerve receptors causes the blood vessels (by reflex action) to dilate, which also facilitates blood flow.
对神经受体的刺激使得血管（通过反射作用）扩张，从而又有利于血流运动。
* This scanner has a FAST SCSI II interface that will preview a full page in just 7 seconds and Photo Scan in under 12.
这种扫描仪具有快速的SCSI II接口，所以预览ー页文件只需7秒钟，图片扫描也不超过12秒。
* A sewer can be laid under a river by using an inverted siphon, which considerably reduces the excavation.
管道在穿过河流时采取虹吸法穿过河底，这样可以大大减少土方工程。
* Certain chemicals are highly soluble in water and are therefore easily dispersed throughout ecosystems where they are readily absorbed by animals.
一些化学品很容易溶解于水，因而很容易扩散到整个生态系统，进而很容易为动物所吸收。
