3. 在what引导的名词性从句（多数为主语从句）中，这时what可译为相应的名词。 如：
* What a motor does is to change electrical energy into mechanical eneray.
马达的作用就是将电能转换成机械能。（what引导主语从句，what在该从句中作宾语）
* What the TV camera does is to break the picture up into a number of lines consisting of very small points of light.
摄像机的功能就是把图像分解成许许多多由微小光点组成的线条。（what引导主语从句，what在该从句中作宾语）
