例1：足少阳胆经经穴主治半表半里症

例2：半刺是古代针刺手法之一，其特点为浅刺，仅及常规深度的一半，出针快。
“Half-needling”is one of the ancient needling manipulations, characterized by shallow needling at only balf the usual depth with quick withdrawal.
译文说明：
“针刺”译作needling是一种大众化的译法，比较接近于口语，有利于交流。通常人们也用acupuncture或puncture翻译“针刺”，意义与needling完全一样，且略微正规一些acupuncture —词是十七世纪根据拉丁语的构词法创造的一个中医专用语，但由于发音较为拗口，拼写也较为麻烦，所以现在很多人已趋向于使用needling这个较为简便的词。当然，若作动词用时，needling应还原为needle。
例3:外邪由表内传，尚未入里；或里邪透表，邪正相搏于表里之间，称为半表半里证。其证候为寒热往来，胸胁苦满，心烦喜呕，默默不欲饮食，口苦咽于，目眩，脉弦等。
“Semi-interior and semi-exterior syndromen" refers to the pathological condition in which exogenous pathogens penetrate the superficies but have not entered the interior yet, or refers to the case in which pathogenic factors and the healthy energy are struggling in between the interior and exterior. Its topical symptoms are alternative chills and fever，hypochondriac and thoracie stuffiness, irascibility, frequent hiccups，depression, poor appetite, stomatic bitterness, dry throat, blurred vision and a tense pulse.
译文说明：
“由表内传”译作penetrate the superficies主要是因为exogenous—词已明确地表达了“由表”这一意义。这里的“表”侧重于“体表”这一意义，所以译作superficies。但若是“表里”之表, 则又作别论，“苦满”是形容胸胁胀满的极度不适之感，所以译文只以stuffiness统而译之，“苦”虽未从字面上译出，但其味已体现于里了。
