例如:脾在志为思，在液为涎，在窍为口。
The spleen corresponds to thinking in mental activities, to the saliva in body fluids and to the mouth in orifices.
译文说明：
（1）“在…为…”一般可用correspond to这个短语来翻译。“在志为思”，即其在“志”与“思”相关，所以译作correspond to thinking in mental activities。
（2）“志”若按现在用法译作will，无疑语义过于狭窄。《灵枢•本神》说“所以任物者谓之心，心有所忆谓之意，意之所存谓之志，因志而存变谓之思，因思而远慕谓之虑，因虑而处物谓之智。” 任物是心通过感官接触外界事物而产生感觉的作用，并由此产生意、志、思、虑、智等认识和思维活动，其过程一级高于一级。但在今天看来，对意识活动作如此的划分在cognism (认知）方面失 去了一定的辨识基础。如“思”和"虑”、“意”和“志”，翻译时很难在词语层次上作出区分。
目前在翻译“志”时，很多人都将其浅化地译作emotions，但有人认为 emotion 的基本意思是 “any of the strong feelings of the human spirit”及“strength of feeling； excited state of the feelings"，都指的是“强烈的感情”，与原文的“志”之意不大吻合。但要在英语中找出恰当的词来，确非易事。译文将其译作mental activities亦非佳词，只是一般表述而巳。
如果我们从“七情”（喜、怒、哀、乐、悲、惊、恐）的具体实际来看，“七情”之中有"六情”都表示的是较为强烈的感情，如喜，怒、 哀、惊、悲、恐。用excited state of the feelings来释这几种“情”，较合情合理。所以我们认为在翻译“七情”等时，用emotion还是恰当的。用emotion来翻译以下几种情况中的“志”也应属可取：
心在志为喜
The heart corresponds to joy in the emotions.
肺在忐为忧
The lung corresponds to worry in the emotions.
肝在志为怒
The liver corresponds to anger in the emotions.
肾在志为恐
The kidney corresponds to fear in the emotions.
由于“脾脏在志为思”，而“思”显然不是an excited state of the feelings，所以不宜译作 emotion。
