网络流行语“打脸”一般指被当面证明错误，使其丢脸；或者不给面子。那大家有没有想过，“打脸”用英文如何表达呢？
英语中有个类似表达：a slap in the face
a slap in the face 有两层含义：
1. 字面意思：一记耳光；
2. 引申为受到羞辱。大家通常用 a slap in the face 表示自已对原本抱有很高希望或者非常确定的事情最后没能成功而感到失望或者受到侮辱；也可以表示别人不给自己面子。
The Sun calls it a massive slap in the face for the United States government
《太阳报》称之为打在美国政府脸上的一记重重的耳光。

英文释义：to be less respected or look stupid because of something you have done

Many leaders don't want to lose face by admitting failures.
许多领导不想因为承认失败而丢面子。
save face
英文里既有lose face，也有save face，可以被理解为：保住面子。
