lengthen [length n. 长度；-en=>“ to come to have length; gain length 获得长度”→]v. become long; grow longer 变长；长起来/His legs have lengthened a great deal since he was five years old. 他的两条腿比五岁时长了好多。
下面看看-en作为形容词后缀的例子。
wooden [ wood n. 木头；-en a. →] a. made of wood 木制的 / The goods are packed in sea-worthy wooden cases. 货装在适合海运的木箱里。
ashen [ash n. 灰；-en=>“having the look of ashes 有灰的样子”→] a. like ashes; of the colour of ashes; pale 像灰一般的；灰色的； 苍白的 / His ashen face showed how much the news had shocked him. 他面如土色，可见这消息使他大为震惊。
