帝日:善。秋脉如浮，何如而浮?岐伯日:秋脉者肺也，西方金也，万物之所以收成也，故其气来，轻虚以浮，来急去散，故日浮，反此者病。帝日:何如而反?岐伯曰:其气来，毛布中央坚，两傍虚，此谓太过，病在外;其气来，毛而微，此谓不及，病在中。帝日:秋脉太过与不及，其病皆何如?岐伯日:太过则令人逆气而背痛，慑慑然;其不及，则令人喘，呼吸少气而劾，上气见血，下闻病音。
Yellow Emperor said:"Good, The pulse condition of autumn is floating, but what is floating like?" Qibo answered: "The pulse of autumn is the pulse of lung, it associates with the metal of west, which has the scene of harvesting of all things; as the pulse energy is light, feeble, floating and hasty in coming, but becomes scattered when going, it is called the floating pulse. If the condition is on the contrary, it is the diseased pulse."
Yellow Emperor asked:"What is the condition when it is on the contrary?" Qibo answered: "When the pulse is floating and soft with firmness in the central part but being empty on both sides in coming, it is going beyond, which shows the disease is in the exterior; when the pulse energy is floating, soft and tiny in coming, it is falling short which shows the disease is in the interior. " Yellow Emperor asked:"What diseases will occur when it is going beyond or falling short?" Qibo answered: "One will feel adverseness of vital energy, pain on the back, feeling dull and depressed when going beyond: to have rapid breathing and cough, hemorrhage due to adverseness of vital energy in the upper part of the body and the sound of rapid respiration can be heard on the lower part of the chest when falling short."
帝日:善。冬脉如营，[《难经・十五难》“营”作“石”，按“营”为“莹”之借字]何如而訾?岐伯日:冬脉者肾也，北方水也，万物之所以合藏[滑抄本，“合”作“含”，《太素》“所以”下无“合”字]也，故其气来沉以[《甲乙》“搏”作“濡”]搏，故曰营，反此者病。帝日:何如而反?岐伯日:其气来[《脉经》“气”下无“来”字]如弹石者，此谓太过，病在外;其去如数[《太素》“数”作“毛”]者，此谓不及，病在中。帝日:冬脉太过与不及，其病皆何如?岐伯日:太过则令人解休，脊脉[《太素》“脊脉”作“腹”]痛，而少气不欲言;其不及则令人心悬如病饥，眇中清，脊中痛，少腹满，小便变[《脉经》“变”作“黄赤”]。帝日:善。
Yellow Emperor said: "Good. The pulse condition of winter is stony, but what is stony like?" Qibo answered:"The pulse of winter is the pulse of kidney, it associates with water of north with the scene of shutting and hiding of all things; as the coming of the pulse energy is sunken and moist, so it is called the stony pulse. If the condition is on the contrary, it is the diseased pulse."
Yellow Emperor asked: "What is the condition of the pulse when it is on the contrary?" Qibo answered: "When the pulse is hitting the fingers like marble, it is going beyond, it shows the disease is in the exterior; if the pulse condition is floating and soft, it is falling short which shows the disease is in the interior." Yellow Emperor said: "What disease will occur when the winter pulse is going beyond or falling short?" Qibo answered: "One will be feeling fatigue, pain of the abdomen and speechless when going beyond; and one's heart will be suspending like getting hungry, feeling cool in the empty and soft part beneath the hypochondrium, pain in the spine, distension of the lower abdomen and with deep-coloured urine when falling short." Yellow Emperor said: "Good!"
