美国大部分学校要求外籍学生申请入学时有2~3封推荐信，由教授或工作(学习)单位的负责人撰写，直接寄往简章上所指定的单位(招生办公室，研究生院或系)，不能与入学申请表同信寄去。

入学推荐信的内容，一般是申请人的学习成绩、学习态度、工作情况、英语水平，还可以提及申请者的学习潜力、培养前途以及个人素质。当然，推荐者的态度也是很重要的内容。

我高兴地向您们推荐我的助教青岛中医学院物理教研室肖萍小姐，她正在申请进入贵校攻读分子光谱斫究生。

肖萍小姐1997年毕业于北京师范大学物理系，此后一直在我校从事教学、研究工作。在我的指导下，她全力研究脂肪的红外光谱。我发现肖萍是一个刻苦的人，在工作中已取得显著成果，在国内发表6篇论文。

肖萍小姐现在打算在红外光谱学特别是激光光谱学方面作进一步的研究。贵校物理系在这方面是举世闻名。她愿意在怀特教授的指导下进一步研究。怀特教授成就卓著，在中医物理学界享有盛誉。

至于她的英语，听、读、写都还不错。只是由于缺乏实践，说得不是太流利。但她阅读理解能力强，阅读速度能满足她的工作要求。
