前缀para-原是一个希腊介词，它主要与希腊语源的词根相结合，一般构成名词，其基本意思是beside (旁），near (近）。par- 是para- 的异体，它只出现在元音字母或h的词根之前。para- 也与少量的单词相缀合，这时，其意思相当于related to (有关）， supplementary to (辅助），subordinate to (副）等。含 para-的单词多是科技术语。

现在先举几个以para-开头的常用词。
