“母语”也不能说成“mother language”！

大家都知道，关于“母语”最最正宗的说法是“mother tongue”，tongue主要指语言，方言或人的说话能力，所以“mother tongue”自然就是指原始语言，即母语。

如果非要用language的话，可以表达为“native language”。

Media is a form of language, and we always favor our mother tongue/native language. 

媒体是一种语言形式，而我们永远偏爱自己的母语。

“母公司”≠ mother company

既然母校不是“mother school”，母语也不是“mother language”，那么母公司是“mother company”吗？

当然不是哦！母公司也是指总公司，这样的话用mother company是不太合适的，而应该用“parent company”或“parent firm”来表达。

英文释义：A company that owns more than half the shares of another company.

The parent company of this factory is in Shanghai.

这家工厂的母公司（总公司）在上海。

子公司 ≠ son company

subsidiary corporation（company）

The subsidiary company has decided to amalgamate with the parent firm.

这家子公司已决定和母公司合并。

The parent company has eight subsidiary companies.

这家公司有八个子公司。
