1) 这些车床比那些车床好。

These lathes are better than those ones.

2) 我们的民族将再也不是ー个被人侮辱的民族了.

Ours will no longer be a nation subject to insult and humiliation.

3) 各国有各国的风俗。

Each country has its own customs.

(五）汉语重复动词，英语常用do，或助动词代替， 或to代替

1) 光传播比声传播快得多。

Light travels more quickly than sound does.

2) 在任何情况下，功不包括时间，但功率则包括时间。

In any case work does not include time，but power does.

3) 有些同志想要停止试验，但其他同志则认为还是不停止为好。

some comrades want to suspend the test, but others prefer not to.

(六）汉语重复名词，英语常用so和as代替

1) 自然界是ー个整体，社会也是ー个整体。

Nature is an integrral whole, so is society.

2) 我们已提前完成了我们的工作，他们也提前完成了他们的工作。

We have fulfilled our work ahead of schedule; so have they.

(七）汉语重复，英语省略

1) 是迅速进步，不是慢慢地进步。

We need rapid progress，not slow.

2) 较低级的艺术能逐渐提高成为较高级的艺术。

Art of a lower level can be gradually raised to a higher.
