2. 分译法

如果非限制性定语从句补充说明某个词时，汉译时常常可以译为并列分句，分句主语可重复先行词，也可用“他（它)”、“他（它）们”、“该”、“这”等词来代替先行词。如：

* The disease AIDS is not the same thing as the AIDS virus, HIV, which can lead to the disease.

艾滋病与艾滋病毒不是一回事，艾滋病毒可导致艾滋病。

* Nanotechnology has been described as a key manufacturina technoloav of the 21st century, which will be able to manufacture almost any chemically stable structure at low cost.

纳米技术被认为是21世纪一门重要的制作技术，它将能够低成本地制造出几乎各 种化学成分稳定的结构。

* Flower remedies were developed in the early 1900s by Dr. Edward Bach, an English homeopathic physician, who believed that negative emotional or psychological states underlie physical illnesses.

花疗法是由英国主张顺势疗法的爱德华▪拜西博士在20世纪初研究出来的。他认为消极情感或心理状态是导致身体疾病的潜伏因素。 

翻译此类句子时，有时可省略英语关系词所代表的含义。如：

* Patients are seen by the anesthetist concerned, who will order pre-medication.

相关麻醉师须视察病人，井指导术前用药。

* The continental shelves represent 7.5 percent of the total area of the oceans, which is equivalent to about 18percent of the earth's total land area.

大陆架占海洋面积的7.5%，约等于陆地总面积的18%。
