经济合同中有一些规范化的词语，其中有ー些在普通英语中很少见，如 thereby (by it，by them) , hereof (of this) , hereby (by means of this)，在翻译中应注意使用。又如： 

例3. 凡因执行合同或与合同有关事顼所引起的争端，应由双方友好协商加以解决。如未能达成协议，则应付诸仲裁。

译文：All disputes arising from the execution of or in connection with the contract shall be settled through friendly consultation "between both parties". In case no settlement can be reached, the dispute shall be submitted for arbitration.

如上所述，对外经济合同英译应尽可能地直译，保持原文的文体特点，但有时为了使译文达到等效作用，并且通顺可读，可以采取以下几种方法：

1. 重复

在翻译对外经济合同时要求准确、确切，许多关键词、重要词往往重复使用以避免误解。重复还可用来强调某个部分。所以在翻译中常重复名词和动词，而不用其他词来代替。

例4. 本合同及其附件构成了甲方和乙方之间关于本合同标的全部协议，并取代双方所有以前的讨论、谈判和约定。

译文：This Contract and the Appendices attached to this Contract constitute the entire agreement between Party A and Party B with respect to the subject matter of this Contract and supersede all the prior discussions, negotiations and agreements between the two parties.

译文中contract这个关键词重复了两次，不用代词it来代替。 体现了合同文体的特点。

例5. 如果承包商没有进行合同要求的保险并使之保持有效， 那么雇主就可以进行任何此种保险并保持有效。

译文：If the contractor fails to effect and keep in force any of the insurances required under the Contract, then the Employer may effect and keep in force any such insurances.

在译文中谓语动词也加以重复，不用do之类的词代替。
