英语原文中引用的中国先贤名言，必须找到其汉语原文（如例3)，否则就会使汉语读者觉得译文在时代和文体风格都与汉语经典格格不入。至于原文中有关中国事务一般性描述的语言，我们应该尽量还原成规范的汉语表达方式（如例4)，否则有可能因语言风格上的差异给译文读者造成不必要的误会：
例3 It sounds like a parable from Sun Tzu：An army that is everywhere is an army no where.
这话听上去像是孙子的名言：无不备者，无不寡。(见《孙子兵法•虚实篇》）
例4 Wen said in his opening speech that those themes would center on seeing through promises to save energy and cut pollution, while striving to keep the world's fourth-largest eccmomy humming. He also pledged to lift spending on the countryside，where increasing protests fueled by corruption. land grabs and a yawning rich-poor gap threaten stability, underscoring concerns over the chasm between the booming coast and lagging hinterland.
温总理在开幕式上说，此次会议的主题将是坚持节能减排承诺，同时努力让中国这个世界第四大经济体保持增长活力。他还保证要增加对农村地区的投入，这充分说明，政府十分关注生机勃勃的沿海地区与发展滞后的内地之间的差距。在农村，贪污腐败、乱征土地和贫富差距加大，激起了越来越多的抗议，对社会稳定构成了威胁。
