Dear friends,
Good evening. A warm welcome to today's Iftar reception. As the Idul Fitri will come in a few days' time, let me extend my sincere festival greetings in advance to you and through you to all of the Muslim friends across ASEAN countries.
斋月是穆斯林朋友一年中最尊贵、最吉祥的特殊时光，也是广大穆斯林净化身心、磨练意志、思考体悟教义的神圣月份，还是家人团聚、享受亲情的温馨日子。中国的2000多万穆斯林兄弟姐妹也同印尼广大穆斯林一样，通过封斋、祈祷、布施等不同方式行善祈福，弘扬团结协作和互助友爱的精神。
女士们，先生们，
For Muslims, Ramadan is the holiest and most auspicious month of the year. It is a time for discipline, both spiritual and physical, a time for reflection, and a time for sharing, blessing and being together with family and loved ones. Just like you, more than 20 million Muslim brothers and sisters in China are honoring the Ramadan traditions of fasting, praying and doing charities, carrying forward the spirit of unity and generosity.

不久前，亚洲文明对话大会在北京召开。中国国家主席习近平在大会开幕式演讲中指出，文明因多样而交流，因交流而互鉴，因互鉴而发展。中国很早就迈出了文明交流互鉴的步伐。沿着举世闻名的陆上和海上丝绸之路，包括伊斯兰教传统等各国文化传入中国，中华文化也在世界其它地方得到传扬，丝路沿线人民和睦相处、交融互鉴、共享繁荣。今天，中国通过共建“一带一路”，致力于推动沿线地区和国家不同文明交流对话，续写亚洲文明交融的新篇章。
Not long ago, the Conference of Dialogue of Asian Civilizations was held in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that diversity spurs interaction among civilizations, which in turn promotes mutual learning and their further development. China has been a pioneer in promoting such interaction and mutual learning. Centuries back, via the famous silk road both by land and sea, many Islamic traditions and other cultures were introduced into China, while the Chinese culture also found its way into the rest of the world. People along the silk road enjoyed harmony and prosperity brought by such interaction and mutual learning. Today, with cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, China stays committed to promote the exchanges and dialogue across civilizations, and harmony and prosperity in Asia and beyond.
