作为动词的 grandfather 的确比较少见，涉及一项法律条款，来看韦氏词典的定义：
to permit to continue under a grandfather clause（允许某情况在祖父条款下持续下去）
这里的 clause 不是“从句”的意思，而是（法律文件的）条款，grandfather clause就是“祖父条款”。
