Yellow Emperor said:" The so called the third Yang is indicating the Taiyang Channel of the body its pulse appears on the Cunkou (located along the radial artery proximal to the wrist of hand) of the Hand Taiyin Channel. The pulse condition should be full and gigantic. If it is wiry, floating and not sunken on the Cunkou of Hand Taiyin, it is the sick pulse. By this time, One should observe the prosperous or the debilitating condition of the patient's energy and blood, and deliberate the disease by heart by inferring the theory of Yin and Yang. The so called second Yang is indicating the Yangming Channel which appears on the Cunkou of the Hand Taiyin Channel of lung. The pulse condition should by floating, gigantic and short. If it is wiry, sunken and urgent without agitating on the Cunkou Hand Taiyin, it shows the primordial energy of the patient is declining. If this pulse condition appears when the patient has a fever, the primordial energy of the patient will be consumed by the heat and causes death of the patient. The pulse of the first Yang (the Shaoyang channel) appears on the Cunkou of the Hand Taiyin connects the above Renying pulse (located in the cervical arteries lateral to the thyroid cartilage). It should be of a little wiry and harmonious, If it is wiry, but suspending and continuous, it is the sick pulse of the Shaoyang energy of wood. If the wood energy is extremely prosperous and the pulse condition is extremely wiry without any symptom of relaxation, it is called the 'Yin pulse without Yang' which shows the fatal disease of the patient.
"The pulse of third Yin (Spleen) appears on the Cunkou of the Hand Taiyin Channel of lung and it dominates the six channels. It connects the pulse of heart above and its pulse condition is sunken agitating without floating. The second Yin is the Shaoyin Channel which connects the lung. Its energy goes to the bladder and it connects the stomach and spleen out side. When the energy of the first Yin appears on the Cunkou of the Taiyin Channel solely, it shows the channel energy has been severed causing it to become floating and fails to become agitating, and its pulse condition is like hook and is slippery. The six pulse conditions stated above may appear to be changing into Yin or Yang abruptly, but they are all related and they all appear in the Cunkou. They connect with the five viscera inside and they conform with the changes of Yin and Yang. In the arrival of the six channel energy on the Cunkou; some are early and some are late, the energy that appears early is the host energy and the energy that appears late is the guest energy."
