岁露论/Sui Lu Lun
(On the Dew of the Year)
黄帝问于岐伯日:经言夏日伤暑，秋[秋:《外治》卷五《疗疟方》“秋”下并有“必”字]病疟，疟之发以时，其故何也?岐伯对日:邪[邪:《素问・疟论》“邪”下并有“气”字]客于风府，病[病:《素问・疟论》并无此字]循膂而下，卫气一日一夜，常大会于风府，其明日日下一节，故其日作晏。此其先客于脊背也，故每至于风府则腠理开，腠理开则邪气入，邪气入则病作，此所以日作尚晏也。卫气之行风府，日下一节，二十一日下至尾底[底;当注本，张注本并作“骶”]，二十二日入脊内，注于伏冲[伏冲:《甲乙》卷七第五作“太冲”]之脉，其行[其行:《素问。疟论》“其”下并有“气上”二字]九日，出于缺盆之中，其气上行[上行:《素问・疟论》并作“日高”]，故其病稍益至[至:按“至”字误，《素问》《甲乙》《病源》作“早”]。其内搏[搏:《素问・疟论》并作“薄”]于五藏，横连募原，其道远，其气深，其行迟，不能日作，故次[次:《病源》卷十一作“间”]日乃稸积而作焉。
Yellow Emperor asked Qibo and said: "It was stated in the classics: 'When one is injured by the summer-heat in summer, he will contract malaria in autumn, and the time of its onset is definite. What is the reason?" Qibo answered:"When the evil energy invades the Fengfu point, it moves along the spine and descend day by day; as the Wei-energy converges at the Fengfu point after circulating for a day and night, and on the next day, it moves up for one vertebra, the onset of malaria will be one day later day after day which is due to the evil energy has invaded the spine in advance. Whenever the Wei-energy reaches the Fengfu point, the striae there will open, and from there, the evil energy will invade into the body; when the evil energy invades, the disease will attack the body, and this is the reason that the time of the disease's onset is often later. When the Wei-energy leaves the Fengfu point, it moves down a vertebra every day, on the twenty first day, it reaches the coccyx, on the twenty second day, it enters into the spine and pours into the Taichong Channel, then, it ascends along the channel to reach the supraclavicular fossa (the Tiantu point) on the ninth day, the energy moves higher day after day, so, the time of the disease's onset will be ahead of schedual slightly. If the evil-energy draws near to the five viscera to reach the portion between the diaphragm and the pleura, its distance of travelling is rather long, its location of harbouring of the evil energy is rather deep, and the time of the cycling is rather late and it can not attack every day, so, it attacks every other day after the gathering of the evil energy."
黄帝日:卫气每至于风府，媵理乃发，发则邪入[发则邪入:《素问・疟论》“邪入”下并有“入则病作”四字]焉。其卫气日下一节，则不当风府奈何?岐伯日:风府无常[风府无常:《素问・疟论》并作“风无常府”]，卫气之所应[应:《素问・疟论》并作“发”]，必开其腠理，气之所舍节[舍节:《太素卷二十五“舍”下并无“节”字]，则其府也[府也:《甲乙》卷七第五作“病作”]。
Yellow Emperor said:"The stria opens whenever the Wei-energy reaches the Fengfu point, and when the stria opens, the evil-energy will take chance to invade the body and causes disease. Now, the Wei-energy moves down a vertebra every day, if the cycling of the Wei-energy has not reached precisely the Fengfu point, what will be the condition?" Qibo said: "The place where the evil-energy invades is not definite, but the stria will certainly open when the Wei-energy and the evil energy is in combat, when the evil-energy is retained, disease will attack the body."
黄帝日:善。夫风之与疟也，相与同类，而风常在，而疟特以时休何也?岐伯日:风气留其处，疟气随经络沉以内搏，故卫气应乃作也。帝日:善。
Yellow Emperor said:"Good. The conditions of the wind-evil and the malarial evil are similar, they all belong to the evil-energy kind, but the disease of wind-evil is lasting, but the attack of the malarial evil stops now and then, what is the reason?" Qibo said: "The disease caused by the wind-evil ususlly retains on the location of the disease, but the malaria is transmitting to the internal organs in turn along with the channel and collateral, when the Wei-energy corresponds with the malarial evil, they will attack. Yellow Emperor said:"Good."
黄帝问于少师日:余闻四时八风之中人也，故有寒暑，寒则皮肤急而媵理闭，暑则皮肤缓而媵理开。贼风邪气，因得以入乎?将必须八正虚[虚:《甲乙》卷六第一作“风”]邪，乃能伤入乎?少师答曰:不然。贼风邪气之中人也，不得以时。然必因其开也，其入深，其内极病[其内极病:《甲乙》卷六第一“极病”作“亟而疾”]，其病人也卒暴;因其闭也，其入浅以留，其病[病:按“病”下脱“人”之]也徐以迟[迟:《太素》卷二十八《三虚三实》作“持”]。
Yellow Emperor asked Shaoshi and said: "I am told when the human body is injured by the eight kinds of wind from the four seasons is due to the weather difference of cold and heat. when the body is cold, the skin will be tightened and the striae will become dense, when the body is hot, the skin will be loosen and the striae will be open . Whether the injury of the body is due to the heat and cold difference causing the invasion of the thief wind and the evil energy when the striae open, or due to the injury of the debilitative evil of the eight winds?" Shaoshi said: "Neither of them is correct, when the thief wind and the evil-energy injure man, there is no definite time, but when the evil-energy injures man, it can penetrate deeply and fastly and it causes the patient to contract the disease suddenly; when the striae are closed, the evil-energy can only penetrate shallowly and retains on the surface to cause the patient to contract the disease slowly and potractedly."
