阴阳二十五人/Yin Yang Er Shi Wu Ren
(The Twenty Five Kinds of People in Different Characteristics of Yin and Yang)
黄帝曰:余闻阴阳之人何如?伯高曰:天地之间，六合之内，不离于五，人亦应之。故五五二十五人之政，而阴阳之人不与焉。其态又不合于众者五，余已知之矣。愿闻二十五人之形，血气之所生，别而以候，从外知内何如?岐伯日:悉乎哉问也，此先师之秘也，虽伯高犹不能明之也。黄帝避席遵循而却曰:余闻之，得其人弗教，是谓重失，得而泄之，天将厌之。余愿得而明之，金柜藏之，不敢扬之。岐伯曰:先立五形金木水火土，别其五色，异其五形之人，而二十五人具矣。黄帝曰:愿卒闻之。岐伯曰:慎之慎之，臣请言之。
Yellow Emperor said:"I am told that some human body belongs to Yin or to Yang, what is the condition?" Bogao said: "It was stated by Shaoshi that within the six directions (east. west. north, south. up and down) between heaven and earth, nothing can divorce from the five elements, and a man corresponds to it. So, the twenty five kinds of people which belong to the five elements are excluded from the people of Yin and Yang kinds. The shapes of the people of the Yin and Yang kinds which contain the Taiyang, Shaoyang, Taiyin, Shaoyin and Mild kinds of people respectively are different from that of the common people, and I have already understood them all. Now I want to hear about the various shapes of the twenty five kinds of people, their characteristis when born of blood and energy, and I want to understand the changes of the internal organs by examining from outside, what should I do?" Qibo said: "You have asked a very exhaustive question. It is the confidential impartation from the late master, even Bogao can not comprehend it thoroughly." Yellow Emperor left his seat, moved back modestly and said: "I am told when one does not impart to the one who is deserving, it is a great error; when one has acquired the genuine impartation and neglects it, heaven will detest him. I hope when I obtain the impartation, expound it, store it in a golden cabinet, and dare not to discard it." Qibo said: "One must set the five shapes of the metal, wood, water, fire and earth elements, distinguish the five colours and separate the five tones first, then the characteristic-shape of the twenty five kinds of people can all be known." Yellow Emperor said: "I hope to hear them all." Qibo said: "You must be very very careful about it. Now, let me tell you in details."
木形之人，比于上角，似于苍帝。其为人苍色，小头，长面，大肩背，直身，小手足，好有才，劳心，少力，多忧劳于事。能春夏不能秋冬，感而病生，足厥阴佗佗然。大角之人，比于左足少阳，少阳之上遗遗然。左角之人，比于右足少阳，少阳之下随随然。钛角之人，比于右足少阳、少阳之上推推然。判角之人，比于左足少阳，少阳之下栝栝然。
"The man in wood type when analogizing with the five tones, is like the Shangjue (Upper Jue), he is similar with the people of the east where the Green Emperor lives. He is green and small headed, has a long face, large shoulders, flat back, upright body and small limbs, he is talented, being a mental worker, has weaker physical strength, and he often worries about his work, he can withstand the weather of spring and summer but can not withstand the weather of autumn and winter, when he encounters the evil energy in autumn and winter, he will fall sick. People of the Shangjue kind belongs to the Foot Jueyin Channel of Liver and their outer appearances are always gracefully poised. In the tones of wood, people belong to the Taijue (Greater Jue) kind can be analogized as the Left Foot Shaoyang, and the upper part of Shaoyang appears to be self-satisfied; people belong to the Zuojue (Left Jue) kind can be analogized as the Right Foot Shaoyang, and the lower part of Shaoyang who appears to be amiable; people belong to the Taijue (Large Jue) can be analogized as the Right Foot Shaoyang, and the upper part of the Shaoyang who appears to be proceeding; people belong to the Panjue (Half Jue) kind can be analogized as the Left Foot Shaoyang, and the lower part of Shaoyang appears to be upright.
火形之人，比于上微，似于赤帝，其为人赤色，广用，锐面小头，好肩背髀腹，小手足，行安地，疾心[疾心:《千金》卷十三第一大“心”字]，行摇，肩背肉满，有气轻财，少信，多虑，见事明，好颜，急心，不寿暴死。能春夏不能秋冬，秋冬感而病生，手少阴核核然。质[质:《甲乙》卷一第十六作“太”]微之人比于左手太阳，太阳之上肌肌然。少微之人，比于右手太阳，太阳之下舀滔然。右徽之人，比于右手太阳，太阳之上鮫鲛然。质判(一日质微)之人，比于左手太阳，太阳之下支支颐颐然。
"The man in fire type, when analogizing with the five tones is like the Shangzhi (Upper Zhi), he is similar with the people of the south where the Red Emperor lives. He has the characteristics of broad and revealing teeth, thin and sharp chin, small head, well developed shoulder, back, thigh and abdomen, small hands and feet, he is steady in his step, fast in walking with swaying of shoulder, his muscle is plump in the back, daring, neglecting money, break his word often, misgiving, clear in analysing, anxious in heart, fail to enjoy a long life and apt to die suddenly. He can withstand the weather of spring and summer but can not withstand the weather of autumn and winter, when the evil energy of autumn and winter is encountered, he will fall sick. People of the Shangzhi (Upper Zhi) kind belong to the Hand Shaoyin Channel of Heart, and they are modest. In the tones of fire, people belong to the Taizhi (Greater Zhi) kind can be analogized as the Left Hand Taiyang Channel of Small Intestine. and the upper part of Taiyang appears to be bright: people belong to the Shaozhi (lesser Zhi) kind can be analogized as the Right Hand Taiyang Channel of Small Intestine, and the lower part of Taiyang appears to be joyous: people belong to the Youzhi (Right Zhi) kind can be analogized as the Right Hand Taiyang Channel of Small Intestine, and the upper part of Taiyang appears to be progressive and bright: people belong to the Panzhi (Half Zhi) kind can be analogized as the Left Hand Taiyang, and the lower part of Taiyang appears to be optimistic and self-satisfied.
