We are looking for a Translator to interpret written and audio pieces in English - Chinese, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone.Translator responsibilities include reading and thoroughly understanding the context of given material, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools and proofreading finished pieces of work. To be successful in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in English and Chinese.

Ultimately, you will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

 

What you’ll do

1. Reads through or listens to material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning

2.Read given material and research industry-specific terminology

3.Convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others

4.Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone

5.Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation

6.Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy

7.Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs

8.Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)

9.Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately

 

Who you are

1.Proven work or intern experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role

2.Fluency in at least two languages both English and Chinese (Mandarin)

3.Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors

4.Good knowledge of content editing tools

5.Familiarity with translation software

6.Time-management skills

7.Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus
