颞下颌关节疾病主要包括:颞下颌关节紊乱病(temporomandibular disorders)、颞下颌关节脱位(dislocation of condyle)、颞下颌关节强直(ankylosis of temporomandibular joint)。颞下颌关节强直的关节内强直的治疗是采取颞下颌关节成形术(arthroplasty of temporomandibular joint)。

* tempr(o)-(颞)+mandibular(下颌的)→temporomandibular(颞下颌的),如temporomandibular arthralgia(颞下颌关节痛),temporomandibular arthritis(颞颌关节炎)。

* dis-(分开)+location(位置)→dislocation[脱位(从原来的位置分开即意思为脱位)]+of the condyle(髁状突)→髁状突从关节窝内滑出来,不能自行回复至原位→颞下领关节脱位。

* ankylo-(粘连)+-sis(病)ankylosis(骨骼坚固、关节僵硬)+of the temoporomandibular+joint(关节)→ankylosis of the temoporomandibular joint(颞下颌关节强直)。

* arthr(0)-(关节)+-plasty(成形术)→arthroplasty(关节成形术)+of the temporomandibular joint(颞下领关节)→arthroplasty of the temporomandibular joint(颞下颌关节成形术)。
