在一个英语句子里，叙事的先后次序如果和汉语的表达习惯相符，那就可以采用这种顺译方法。采用这种译法的句子，多见于并列句和带宾语从句或表语从句的复合句。至于带其它从句的复合句，也有些要采用这种译法。

例句：

1. The force of a gusher will destroy the equipment at the well head, allow great quantities of oil to go a wide-spread and destructive fire.

自喷的力量会毁坏井口设备，浪费大量石油，并有、 可能招致大面积毁灭性火灾的危险。

2. The Swedes were the first to recognize that public officials like civil servants，police officers，health inspectors or taxcollectors can make mistakes or act over-zealously in the belief that they are serving the public.

瑞典人首先认识到：像文职人员、警官、卫生稽查员或税务人员等这些公职人员都会犯错误，或者行为过火，还满以为自己在为公众服务呢。

〔解说〕这句中的连词when连接的从句，在意思上表示从句的动作和主句的动作发生时间的紧凑 关系，具有“就在这时”的意思，故译如上文，而不能译成“当……的时候”的句式。采用这种译 法（顺译方法）的when连接的从句必须位于主句之后。
