例1:我们坚持在和平共处五项原则的基础上，建立发展友好合作关系。

口译：We will establish and develop friendly relations and cooperation with the rest of the world on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

例 2： China is a country with vast territory, a big population and a long history. 

口译：中国疆域辽阔、人口众多、历史悠久。

 

4.汉语中“修饰语+中心词”到英语中“中心词+修饰语”

在英语中，一个典型的语法现象是，“中心词”出现后，其后面的修饰语是开放的，似乎可以无限延长，可以加上多个短语，如介词短语、非谓语动词短语等，还可以加上多个从句，如定语从句、同位语从句、状语从句等。汉语中则正好相反。另外，在复合句中，英语的主句为主要部分，一般放在句首，即“重心在前”;而汉语则一般按照逻辑和时间顺序将主要部分放在句尾，即“重心在后”。这也是口译要注意的英、汉转换规律。

 

我们先来看一些简单的例子：

航班取消了，我们不得不多呆一天。

We had to stay for one more day, for the flight was canceled.

为了准时到达，我们很早就起床出发了。

We got up and set out very early in order that we would be there on time. 

再来看口译中的例子：

例1:我们支持发展中国家改苒他们的原料、初级产品和制成品的贸易条件，扩大销售市场，确定公正价格等迫切要求。

口译： We support the urgent demand of the developing countries for improving the trade terms for their raw materials, primary products and manufactured goods，expanding their sales market and setting fair prices.

例 2: I am leaving Beijing tomorrow, heartened with the trade agreements we have reached, cheered by the frankness and fullness of our discussion, grateful for the hospitality you have accorded to our party.

口译：我明天就要离开北京了。我们所达成的贸易协定使我受到鼓舞，我们坦率而充实的会谈使我感到高兴，你们给予我们一行的款待使我十分感激。
