新中国成立70年来，中国共产党领导中国人民艰苦奋斗，走出一条具有中国特色的社会主义道路。我们坚持把人民对美好生活的向往作为奋斗目标，把解决发展不平衡不充分作为主要任务。不久前举行的中共十九届四中全会就坚持和完善中国特色社会主义制度、推进国家治理体系和能力现代化作出决定，就是为了应对好前进道路上的风险挑战，推动改革开放走得更稳更远，以实现民族复兴的宏伟目标。

Since the People's Republic of China was founded 70 years ago, led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people has paid painstaking efforts to develop the country and blazed a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We have taken the people's aspiration for a better life as our goal, and we have worked tirelessly to address the problem of unbalanced and inadequate development. Not long ago, the Fourth Plenum of the 19th CPC Central Committee took a major decision to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and modernize China's system and capacity of governance. This is for us to better cope with the risks and challenges on our way ahead, and to ensure the success of reform and opening-up, so that we will meet the goal of national rejuvenation.

　　同时，我们发展是要超越自己，而不是取代别人，我们对谋求全球或地区霸权根本没有兴趣。相反，发展的中国正在并将继续为人类进步作出更大的贡献，我们希望同各国一起构建人类命运共同体。为此，我们期待面向两国人民利益、面向世界、面向未来，同美方共同构建以协调、合作、稳定为基调的中美关系，实现这一关系持续健康发展。

　　面对这样一个中国，美国是选择相互尊重、合作共赢，还是零和对抗、斗则俱伤？面对中国等一大批发展中国家兴起的历史趋势，美国是看到合作伙伴而欢迎，还是眼里只有对手敌人而抵制？希望美方对这些根本问题作出理性明智的选择。

At the same time, China develops to be a better self, not to displace others, and it has not the slightest interest in global or regional hegemony. Instead, a developing China is making greater contribution to human progress and will continue to do so. We hope to work with other countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind. In this context, we look forward to working with the United States to develop a relationship based on coordination, cooperation and stability and achieve its sound and sustained growth. This is for the interests of the two peoples, for the world and for our shared future.

Facing today's China, will America opt for mutual respect and win-win cooperation, or will it go for zero-sum game and a lose-lose scenario? Facing the collective rise of developing countries, will America choose to welcome more cooperation partners, or will it be single-minded about rivalry and resist this historical trend? I hope that our American friends will make a wise choice.

　　在此，我必须提到最近受到关注的香港、新疆局势。香港、新疆发生的事情被严重歪曲了。香港的当务之急是止暴制乱、恢复秩序。在座的商界朋友应该不难体会这一点。但是确实有人要挑战“一国两制”的底线，真正目标是要推翻“一国”、毁掉“两制”。内地和香港中国公民的福祉，美国企业和美国人在香港的利益，根本不是他们愿意关心的。新疆曾经经历了数以千计的暴恐攻击，经过严厉打击顽固暴恐分子、教育和挽救曾经受暴恐思想影响的人们，现在已经三年没有发生暴恐事件了，当地各族人民恢复了正常安定的生活。这就是事实。不管有人制造了多少“假新闻”、编出了多少离奇的数字，事实永远胜于谎言。维护中国的主权、安全、发展利益，维护国家统一、民族团结、人民幸福，永远是我们坚定不移的目标。

Here, I feel it necessary to mention the situations in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, issues of widespread attention. What is happening in Hong Kong and Xinjiang has been seriously distorted. For Hong Kong, it is most urgent to stop violence and restore order there. I believe that the business community feels such a need. However, there are people out there who are trying to challenge the bottom line of "One Country Two Systems", and their real intention is to overthrow the country and ruin the two systems. The well-being of the Chinese citizens either on the mainland or in Hong Kong, or the interests of American companies and citizens there mean nothing to them. As for Xinjiang, it used to be a heavy victim of terrorism. Thousands of terrorist attacks happened there. But thanks to our resolute fight against violent terrorism, and thanks to our education efforts to help the people affected by extremist and terrorist ideas, no terrorist attack has taken place in the past three years. The life of local people of all ethnic groups has returned to normalcy. Facts are facts. No matter how much "fake news" is generated, no matter what absurd numbers are fabricated by those rumormongers, facts will always prevail over lies. Whatever happens, China stands firm on safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests. China stands firm on achieving national reunification, ethnic solidarity and the people's happiness.

On this planet, China and the United States are key stakeholders for world peace, stability and prosperity, and each of us is a stakeholder for the development of China-US relations.
