(一) 汉英复合词词序相同时的处理
汉语中复合词的词序大多数与英语相同，英译时按先后处理即可：例如：
1) 黑板 blackboard
2) 铅笔盒 pencilbox
3) 圆珠笔 ball-pen
4) 内露 White Dew
5) 白眼 supercilious look
6) 白菜 Chinese cabbage
7) 无线电广播 radio-broadcasting
8) 空间电荷 space charge
9) 金表 gold watch
10) 空间实验室 skylab
(ニ）汉英复合词词序不同时的处理
汉语有些复合词的词序完全与英语不同，翻译时则应按英语的习惯处理。如：
1) 耐热 heat - resistance
2) 东北 northeast
3) 西北 northwest
4) 东南 southeast
5) 西南 southwest
6) 东北北 north-northeast
7) 西北北 north northwest
8) 东北东 east-northeast
9) 西北西 west-northwest
10) 东南南 south southeast
11) 东南东 east-southeast
12) 西南南 south-southwest
13)西南西 west-southwest
(三）常见习语与词组的词序
1. 汉语中有些词组的词序与英语完全相同，翻译时照译即可。例如：
1) 产销
production and marketing
2) 供求
supply and demand
3) 得失
