名词后缀-ry是-ery的缩略形式，由于它的孳生能力较强，所以专门予以介绍。主要用在以t，d, l，n, sh, w等字母结尾的可数名词或名词性词根后面，构成名词。它主要表示the occupation of a〜(…的行业）,the act of a〜(…的行为），the quality or condition of a 〜(…的性质或状态）,a collection of 〜s (…的集合体）；它还可以表示 a place for〜（…的地点）
