股票的指数主要有:道琼斯指数(the Dow-jones Average/the Dow-Jones Index)，（美国）纳斯达克（高技术企业板）NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation)， 《金融时报》工业普通股票价格指数(the Financial Times Industrial Ordinary Share Index)，《金融时报》股票价格指数（the Financial Times All-Share Index)，香港恒生指数（Hongkong Hang Seng Index)。上海(股票）综合指数（Shanghai Composite Index)，深圳成分指数(Shenzhen Sub-Index Index)。股市中常提到的世界件殷票 交易所主要有:纽约证券交易所(the New York Stock Exchange)， 东京证券交场所（Tokyo Stock Exchange )，香港证券交易所 (Hongkong Stock Kxchangc)，伦敦证券交易所（London Slock Exchange)等。与股票紧密有关的大公司有证券信息公司 (Security Data Co.)，大众汽车 B 股(Dazhong Taxi E shares)等。
2）汉英股市新闻中都有很多日常用词被赋予专业性意义。它 们的专业含义只有在专业词典上才能查到。如harden的常用词义是make or become hard，而在股市新闻中的意思却是 increase in price or become less subject to downward fluctuations in price。Edge 的常义是move slow along，但在股市交易中其含义为 increase slightly in price。其他例子还很多，如dull (交易平淡；价格无回升），look weak(走势低迷），lose ground(价格下跌），ease(跌价；变便宜），mature(成交）（票据到期），pick up [(股价)上扬]，jump (价格暴涨），close (收盘），hit hard (受严重影响），slight firming (价格略回升），bulls and bears(多头和空头），bear sales (抛售），bull campaign ( 哄抬证券价格风潮)，go-go(投机性短期炒卖股票；短线操作），股票公开上市(going public)。
