【译文】炎症的性质依据病原体毒性的不同而有很大的不同，而个体的抵抗力可用血液中抑制微生物生长的免疫物质和积极防御异物的白细胞来表示。

 (2)补充适当词语 

若英语原句中并列的成分较多，表示原因、条件的状语或状语从句过于复杂， 或宾语从句、定语从句太长而难于直接表达，翻译时可适当改变句子结构，并添加概括性词语或重复某些句子成分。

例三：The factors to predict heart attacks ihey came up with were a noticeable change in the waves of a patients ECG: a high level of fats and cholesterol in the blood; the absence of high blood pressure；no previous history of heart attack； the presence of typical；cardiac pain after being admitted to the hospital.
