1.一个良好的中美关系符合两国共同利益，也有利于世界和平、稳定、繁荣。中方愿同美方一道努力，加强对话、增进互信、扩大合怍，推动中美关系不断向前发展。

A good China-US relationship serves the common interests of the two countries and contributes to world peace, stability and prosperity. China is ready to work with, the United States to enhance dialogue, build up mutual trust and expand cooperation to push forward China-US relations.

 

2.在双方共同努力下，中美关系呈现良好发展势头。双方就共同努力建设21世纪积极合作全面的中美关系达成重要共识，并为中美关系发展确立了新的方向。

With joint efforts from both sides, the China-US relations have demonstrated a sound momentum for development. The two nations have reached consensus on promoting a positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-US relationship in the 21st century and set a new direction for the development of China-US relations.

 

3.中美都是世界上有重要影响的国家。无论是在推动世界经济复苏和健康发展、促进可持续增长方面，还是在处理国际和地区热点问题、维护世界和平与安全方面，双方都而临着共同课题，肩负着重要责任。

As countries of major influence around the world, the United States and China face common challenges and share major responsibilities in many areas, including promoting global economic recovery, healthy growth of the world economy and sustainable development, dealing with international and regional hot-button issues and maintaining world peace and security.

 

4.中方一贯从战略高度和长远角度看待中美关系，愿同美方一道，进一步落实双方达成的共识，遵循中美三个联合公报和《中美联合声明》的原则和精神，尊重彼此核心利益和重大关切。

China has always viewed ties with the US from a strategic and long-term perspective and is willing to work with the 

United Stales to further implement the consensus reached by the two sides, adhere to the principles and spirit of the three China-US Joint Communiques and the China-US Joint Statement, and respect each other's core interests and major concerns.

 

5.中方强调台湾问题始终是中美关系最敏感，最核心的问题，要求美方恪守中美三个联合公报特别是“八• 一七”公报，充分认清售台武器的严重危害性，停止售台武器，以免损害两国关系大局和双方在重要领域的合作。

The Chinese side stressed that the Taiwan question is the most sensitive question at the core of China-US relations and urged the US side to strictly abide by the three China-US Joint Communiques, the August 17 Communique in particular. We urged the US side to fully recognize the grave danger of arms sales to Taiwan and stop weapons sales to Taiwan, so as to prevent damage to the overall China-US relations and China-US cooperation in important areas.
