有些介词其意义不完整，需在前面与名词、形容词等一起构成一个表示完整意义的动作，如；

生于社会，不能脱离社会。（介词+形容词→动词）
Parents' love of children is perfect and minute.
父母爱子女是无微不至的。（名词+介词→动词）
He was sick of the city.
他讨厌这城市。（介同+形容词→动词）
It is just a waste of money,
这完全是浪费钱。（介词+名词→动词）
介词加名词构成介词短语，可以在译成汉语时候表示动作谓语动词成分，如：
on sale
出售
on the point of
正要……
on fire
着火了
out of order
损坏了
out of touch
脱离
in place of
代替
