有些英语的被动语态译成中文时，以按中文的习惯加上诸如“受……、被…… 、给……、让……给……、遭到……、把……、使……、由……、为……所…… 、靠……、予以……”等词，构成汉语的被动句，如：
The Wright brothers were highly praised for having made the first flight in the world.
莱特兄弟因为进行了世界上第一次飞行而受到了高度赞扬。
Vegetable oil has been known from antiquity.
植物油自古以来就为人们所熟悉。
She was blamed for everything her sister did.
她为妹妹所做的事而受谴责。
The lights have been turned on by him.
灯给他打开了。
The crops were washed away by the flood.
庄稼让洪水给冲跑了。
The finished products must be carefully inspected before delivery.
成品在出厂前必须予以仔细检查。
He was elected chairman of the Students’Union.
他被选为学生会主席。
Boats are moved by oars or by the wind.
帆船靠桨或风推动。
