以上术语均是指物品借用协议或合同。区别在于，loan for consumption为“消费物品借用协议”，指在借用一定数量的物品用作消费后，借用人必须归还同种类且数量类似财产给出借人， 其主要用于美国路易斯安那州属于大陆法系的民法civil law of Louisiana中[1]。loan for exchange为“调换借用合同”，指借用动产给他人，而借用人同意今后归还其他类似动产给出借人， 不管所借物品是否使用与否[2]。loan for use则为“使用性借出协议”，指借出动产，使用后归还原物，其也主要用于美国的 civil law of Louisiana [3]。
