中国和密联邦很早就已经开始经济往来。据说，600多年前明朝大航海家郑和就到过密克罗尼西亚地区，很可能到过纳马杜，比欧洲国家早半个多世纪。根据历史学家赫泽尔的研究， 18世纪晚期，一些西方商人将波纳佩的海产品如玳瑁、鱼翅等出口到中国，换取丝绸和茶叶。我们称之为“海上丝绸之路”，这也是习近平主席提出“一带一路”倡议的深刻历史渊源。2014年习近平主席与密联邦领导人决定建立相互尊重、共同发展的战略伙伴关系，翻开了中密关系新的一页。2017年3月，克里斯琴总统对中国进行了成功访问，习近平主席同克里斯琴总统就推进中密战略伙伴关系达成重要共识，为两国关系发展指明了方向。

Actually, China and the FSM has a long history of economic exchanges. It is said that over 600 years ago in Chinese Ming Dynasty, Chinese navigator Zheng He might have visited this neighborhood Micronesia and even Nan Madol, about half a century before his European counterparts. According to the study of historian Professor Francis Hezel, in late 18th century, some western businessmen exported Pohnpei sea products, such as turtle shells and shark fins to China to exchange for silk and tea. We called it "maritime silk-road", which is the deep historical origin of President Xi Jinping's Belt and Road Initiative, gaining more and more support from all over the world. In November 2014, President Xi Jinping and the FSM leader made the decision to build a strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development, opening a new chapter of China-FSM relations. The productive meetings between President Xi Jinping and President Peter Christian during President Christian's successful visit to China in March 2017 charted the course for our bilateral relations.

　　密克罗尼西亚联邦是北太平洋地区唯一与中国建交的国家。1989年两国建交后，中国政府高度重视发展中密友好关系，始终将密联邦作为好兄弟、好伙伴、好朋友。29年来，双方合作从小到大，硕果累累，政治互信不断增强，务实合作持续深化，人文交流日益密切。其中，双边经贸合作形式多样，是其中最活跃、最富有成果的领域。

　　双边贸易规模不断扩大。2017年，中密双边贸易额达到2106.6万美元，比上一年增长33%，其中我自密联邦进口689.2万美元，同比增长412.8%；向密联邦出口1417.4万美元。中国的电子产品、服装等日用消费品性价比高，深受密联邦消费者的喜爱。密联邦的水产品质量上乘，在中国市场广受欢迎，供不应求。

The FSM is the one and only country in the North Pacific which has established diplomatic ties with China. The Chinese government has all along attached great importance to China-FSM relations and always views the FSM a good brother, good partner and good friend. Our relations have made significant progress since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1989. In the past 29 years, the cooperation between the two sides has grown from small achievements to fruitful outcomes, mutual political trust has been continuously enhanced, pragmatic cooperation has been deepened, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges have become increasingly close. Among all these, bilateral economic and trade cooperation turns out to be one of the most active and fruitful areas. Here are some examples.

Bilateral trade has been expanded. In 2017, the bilateral trade between China and the FSM reached 21.07 million US dollars, increasing by 33% over the previous year. Among them, China imported goods equaling to 6.89 million dollars from the FSM, increasing by 412.8% compared with the same period of the previous year; while exported goods equaling to 14.17 million US dollars to the FSM. China's consumer goods, such as electronic products and clothing, are highly cost effective and are deeply loved by FSM consumers. The high-quality aquatic products from the FSM are also very popular in China.
