问：据报道，8日，美国新任常驻世贸组织代表在世贸组织总理事会上发言称，他对中国自称是“受害者”感到困惑。一个世界上经济方面最具“保护主义”色彩的国家居然将自己定位为自由贸易和全球贸易体系的捍卫者？世贸组织绝不能保护破坏全球贸易体系的国家。中方对此有何评论？ 

　　答：中国有句话叫“清者自清，浊者自浊”。 

　　谁是多边贸易体制的捍卫者，谁是国际贸易规则的维护者，谁在奉行保护主义措施，谁在挥舞单边制裁大棒，国际社会自有明辨。希望美方不要贼喊捉贼、倒打一耙。 

Q: According to reports, on May 8, when addressing the WTO's General Council, the new US ambassador to the WTO said he was perplexed by China's assertion that it was a "victim" and how could the world's most protectionist economy position itself as the defender of free trade and the global trading system? The WTO must not protect a country that undermines the global trading system. What is your comment? 

A: As a Chinese proverb goes, "a clean hand wants no washing". 

The international community knows very well who is defending the multilateral trading system and upholding the international trading rules and who is taking protectionist measures and wielding the big stick of unilateral sanctions. We hope the US will give up its trick of a thief crying "stop thief".
