mis-是个常见的本族语派生词缀。它跟mal-相似，也是表示贬义的。mis-能跟名词、动词相缀合，意思为bad，badly或 wrong, wrongly。它只对词基起修饰作用，所以原单词的词性并不改变。下面分别举例说明。

mistake [ mis- = wrongly 错误地；take v. 理解→] v. take wrongly; take in a wrong sense 误解；弄错 / You have mistaken the meaning of the letter. 你误解了信的意思。

mistreat [ mis- = badly 恶劣地；treat v. 对待→]v. treat badly 虐待 / The boy was punished for mistreating his dog. 那男孩因虐待他的小狗而受到惩罚

misuse [ mis- = wrongly 错误地；use v. 使用→]v. use for the wrong purpose; use improperly 误用；滥用, He misused his knife at the table by lifting food with it. 他吃饭时误用刀子去挑东西吃。
