以上单词均有“转让”的含义。transfer为通用术语，可泛指用一切方式（甚至包括遗赠）转让各种物品，包括财产及其所有的权益、票据或单据等[1]。assignment多为民法或合同法上的债权“让与”，且常指转让无形财产的权利，如：assignment of a contract, assignment of account, assignment of dower, assignment of income, assignment of lease, assignment of wages 等[2]。conveyance多指不动产，如土地物权（title)等的转让，其也包括土地其他权利的转让或租赁（lease)、按揭（mortgage)或抵押（encumbrance)，但不包括遗赠[3]; 与该单词相关的词conveyancer也由此指专门从事不动产转让业务之律师（参见lawyer)。negotiation常指票据法上的权利转让，既票据之“流通”，最大特点是受让人可不受前手产权瑕疵的影响[4]。
