当今世界正处于百年未有之大变局。一个不断发展壮大的中国将如何与世界相处，这不仅是所有外国朋友关心的问题，也是中国必须回答的问题。

Today's world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. How will a stronger China engage the rest of the world? It is not only a question that many foreign friends have concerns about, but also a question to be answered by China.

　　第一，中国将坚定不移地把自己的事情做好。虽然在过去的70年里取得了巨大成就，但我们也要看到，中国人均国内生产总值在世界排名70多位，人均自然资源占有量远低于世界平均水平。城乡、地区发展差距依然很大。人民日益增长的美好生活需要和不平衡不充分的发展之间的矛盾是社会主要矛盾。作为世界上最大的发展中国家，中国依然面临不少挑战和问题，发展仍是第一要务。中国将继续坚持中国特色社会主义道路，集中精力办好自己的事情，以战略定力和自信应对外部环境的不确定性，统筹推进经济、政治、文化、社会和生态文明建设，不断满足人民日益增长的美好生活需要。

Firstly, we will focus on managing our own affairs well. With all we have achieved in the past 70 years, we are fully aware of where we stand. China's GDP per capita ranks around 70th in the world, and natural resources per capita in China is lower than average in the world. Apparently, disparities still exist in development between rural and urban areas, between regions. Unbalanced and inadequate development clearly cannot meet our people's ever-growing needs for a better life. This is the No.1 issue yet to be addressed.

China, the largest developing country in the world, is still confronted with many difficulties and challenges. Pursuing development meeting people's aspirations for a better life remains our top priority.

We have a long way to go. We will continue to follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, focus on running our own affairs well, maintain strategic focus and confidence in response to external uncertainties, and promote coordinated economic, political, cultural, social and ecological advancement.

　　第二，中国将坚持走和平发展道路。中国人民对战争带来的苦难有着刻骨铭心的记忆，十分珍惜和平安定的生活。走和平发展道路绝不是权宜之计，它植根于中华民族热爱和平的民族特性。未来无论国际形势如何变化，无论自身发展到什么程度，中国将永远不称霸，永远不搞扩张。中国愿同世界各国携手构建新型国际关系和人类命运共同体，坚定维护国际法和国际关系基本准则，共同建设持久和平、普遍安全、共同繁荣、开放包容、清洁美丽的世界。

Secondly, we will stay true to the path of peaceful development. Knowing too well the agonizing sufferings inflicted by wars and conflicts, the Chinese people deeply cherish a peaceful and stable life. Pursuing peaceful development is not an act of expediency, but rather a long-term strategy which is deeply rooted in peace-loving tradition of the Chinese nation.

No matter how the international situation changes or how developed it may become, China will never seek hegemony or engage in expansion.

We will remain committed to working with all other countries to build a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.

We will firmly uphold the international laws and basic norms governing international relations.

We will join hands with others to build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity.

　　第三，中国将坚持全方位对外开放。习近平主席多次向世界庄严承诺，中国开放的大门只会越开越大。在今年举行的第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛和G20大阪峰会上，习近平主席宣布了中国在开放市场、扩大进口、改善营商环境等方面的一系列重大举措，并欢迎所有感兴趣的合作伙伴共同参与“一带一路”建设。中国将坚定捍卫多边主义和自由贸易，加快形成对外开放新格局，努力推进高质量发展。一个更加开放的中国，不是世界的威胁与挑战，而将为世界提供更多机遇，释放更多红利。

Thirdly, we will continue to promote all-round opening-up. As President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed on many occasions, China's door will only open wider to the world. At the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the G20 Osaka Summit, President Xi announced further steps towards opening market, expanding imports and improving business environment, and welcomed all interested partners to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.

China will continue to stand for multilateralism and free trade, and will expand opening-up to promote the high-quality development. A more open China will bring more opportunities, and make greater contributions to the world rather than pose a threat or a challenge.
