分析：在英语中，“一天晚上”、“一天早晨”等表示特定的时间要用one, 而不能用泛指的a (an),但很多学生译成了 on a spring evening。

译文： People, poor or nch, are equally favored by Nature...going to churches on weekend and praying...
分析：当nature作“自然”讲时，没有冠词，而church出现在go to church 的固定搭配中时，前面也不用冠词。
4. 数的概念混乱
汉语数的概念在词法和语法上都缺乏形态特征，因而在翻译成英语的时候，译者要根据汉语的上下文在英语的形式中补充上复数的概念。但考生由于受到汉语影响，经常忽略这一点，在用复数表达更合适的地方却译成了单数。例如：
原文：世界上第一代博物馆属于自然博物馆，它是通过化石、标本等向人们介绍地球和各种生物的演化历史。第二代博物馆属于工业技术博物馆。
译文：The first-generation museums in the world are museums oi natural history, which introduce the evolution of the Earth and various lives by means of fossils and specimens,and so on. The second-generation museums are about industrial technologies.
5. 用词冗余
简洁是语言的生命，通过缩合或省略等手段，用词或词组来表达从句等单位所表达的内容。考生的译文中还经常会出现很多冗余信息，造成了原文和译文长度的不对应，对传达信息不仅无益，甚至会造成障碍。例如：
原文：跨世纪青年一代应该用什么样的姿态迎接充满希望的新世紀，这是我们必须回答的问题。
学译：At the transitional phase between the two centuries, in what way the young generation should embrace the forthcoming new century replete with hopes is a question to which we have to seek an answer.
译文：What kind of attitude the cross-century young generation will have to meet the new century that promises so much hope is the question we must answer.
分析：At the transitional phase between the two centuries 过于繁琐，“跨世纪”如果处理为状语，可以译为介词词组at the turn of the century,如果 处理为定语，可用cross-century，更显简洁。
