中文学术论文的摘要多为说明性摘要，句式简洁明了，其主语一般用“本研究/实验”、“本文/文章”、“笔者/作者”等 为主语，这一点与英文学术论文摘要大体一致。不过，中文摘要却很少采用人称代词为主语，这一点又与英语论文摘要不尽相同。以 《中国科技翻译》2005年第4期为例，这一期的16篇文章绝大部分采用“本文”作主语，用“文章”、“论文”、“译者”的各1处，无主句1处，没有出现使用人称代词作主语的情况。比较2006年3月24日美国出版的Science第5768期，同样也是16篇文章，其摘要以人称代词we，our作为主语的竟高达16次！具体使用情况如下：

需要指出的是，即使署名作者只有一人，英文摘要中习惯上一般仍使用“we”而不使用主观性过强的“I”，例如：

由此可见，将中文学术论文摘要翻译成英语，不一定要完全保持中文的句法模式，在适当的情况下可适当使用人称代词。这样不但可以使文句连贯，符合英语习惯表达法，而且也赋予论文作者一种成 就感、责任感、自信感。
