有的词典上把“Jurisprudence”译成“法学”但“Jurisprudence”却不是“法学”。词典出错是常有的事（因为人常要犯错误），但词典不出错也是常有的，请看：

由此可见，“jurisprudence”有三义，相当于“法学”的“ (the science of) law”仅其一义，从而英语“jurisprudence”未必表示汉语“法学”，读者完全可以把“jurisprudence”理解为“法”或“法哲学”（“法理” 一一“法的理论”之略）。所以说，以“jurisprudence”译“法学”恐怕不行。反之，以 “the science of law (或 legal science) ” 或“law”译“法学”，读者就无法把它们误解为“法的理论”或“法理”了。
