Personality is an extremely large area to explore, but we may define it as a series of traits or behaviors that define who and what we are.

More often than not we characterize individuals by these behaviors. We may refer to some individuals as strong-willed, loyal, dedicated or stubborn, etc., based on behaviors we observe.

For example, we think of Lance Armstrong, an American bicycle racer, as being strong-willed, for in spite of his cancer he unyieldingly won the Tour de France many times on end.

Is it the strong-willed personality that makes this survivor of cancer persistent in exercising or the exercise that helps him combat cancer with indomitable will? Quite many people started exercising without hesitation, but gave it up halfway. It is their personalities that are to blame?

A large body of research indicates that exercising contributes positively to many aspects of our lives.
7. 如果我们对自己的人格特征有所了解,那么就可选择一些适合自身目标的经常性锻炼项目。这样我们可以使锻炼成为生活方式不可或缺的一部分,并且走得更远。
If we know something about our own personalities, we can select some programs of regular exercise which fit our own goals. Thus we can go a long way in making exercise an integral part of our lifestyle.
