一、“表示人的名词”(如person,man, girl, student ) + “with (eye)sight”或
I am a big brown dog. I am a seeing-eye dog.
“seeing-eye dog”即 “guide dog”。 据Webster's Third New Internatioual Dictionary ''guide dog”乃“a dog trained to lead the blind”。
8. The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association... was founded in 1934 so that blind people could have guide dogs to help them.
一 Incentive Themes Book Nelson 1930, p.6. 1
至于英语中“a deaf person”的反义词,倒已经找到书面根据了,即“a hearing person”或 “a hearing people”:
Unlike the majority of the deaf in Britain, he may one day have a vocabulary and understanding equivalent to a bearing person.
一 Observer Magazine, 17 July 1977, p.7
Many people still find it difficult to believe that anyone who acts as well as Frelich is really deaf, and backstage visitors are often surprised and stunned to discover that she cannot hear them. "The play will undoubtedly help bridge the gap in the understanding of hearing people, " she admits...
—Time, July 7, 1980, p.62
